Away in a Manger

After a long hiatus, I'm back to posting! Thanks for the great feedback and bear with me as I delve further into the Blogger life. I only recently realized I was not getting notifications of comments which sat awaiting moderation for... well... months. My apologies for the oversight.

I've finally completed my biggest needle felting project to date. A truly one-of-a-kind, heirloom quality Nativity scene, which I actually finished prior to Advent! Honestly I am quite amazed by that.
The scene consists of 14 painstakingly (or should I say painSTICKingly) needle-felted figures (not including the actual manger, another fab thrift store score at $6). To be honest, I've avoided excessively jabbing my fingers with the uber-sharp needles; really it only takes one or two times to "learn ya".

I love how the figures are both simple in their form yet complex in their texture. The robes were created using my new Feltworks tool and brush mat. The tool incorporates 6 needles in one device and makes creating embellishments and actual flat pieces of felt so much easier and fluid.
The livestock take on a life of their own. Itty bitty creatures will always be my favourite to felt!

Now back to production of some wet felted items for my upcoming craft show and sale on Saturday. Yes... wet felting! Definitely fodder for my next post (which will have to wait until after the show), but in the meantime, here is a wee preview of some wet felted beads I've incorporating into some groovy gifties and holiday decor.
